Blakely founded Spouting Rock in 2007 with a focus on Alternative investments and Private Equity. Before running his family office, Blakely was a Principal with Banc of America Securities where he focused on middle market initiatives. Blakely helped build the institutional brokerage platform at Susquehanna Financial Group, and before that he worked at Thomas Weisel Partners where he specialized in hedge funds.

Blakely began his Finance career at Morgan Stanley Wealth Management and later moved to Institutional Equities. Blakley graduated from Southern Methodist University with a BA and holds FINRA Series 7, 24 63 and 79 licenses. Blakely enjoys traveling, golf, watching his three children play sports, and backgammon.

Andrew Smith

Andrew SmithCEO, Spouting Rock Asset Management

Andrew joined SRAM in 2017 after 30 years in the industry. He is responsible for the asset management division of Spouting Rock.

Prior to joining SRAM, he was the Co-Head of Americas and Chief Operating Officer for Aberdeen Asset Management Inc. While at Aberdeen, he held various roles including CCO for their North American Closed End Funds as well as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer for Aberdeen in the Americas.

Andrew joined Aberdeen as the result of the acquisition of Murray Johnstone. Andrew began his career with Murray Johnstone in 1987 where he held a number of financial roles before transferring to their US subsidiary in 1998. Andrew attended Glasgow University as well as graduating with a HND in Accounting from Glasgow College of Commerce. Andrew also enjoys golf, swimming and traveling with his family.

John Coyne

John Coyne joined Spouting Rock Asset Management in 2018 and has been in the financial services industry for 36 years, the last 30 years at Brinker Capital. He is responsible for Distribution and firm development.

At Brinker he had many roles and served on multiple committees, most recently as the Interested Trustee to the Destinations mutual fund family. He served in a variety of capacities including President, CCO and National Sales Director, while at Brinker Capital. Additionally he serves on the board of the Money Management Institute and formally on its Executive Committee. He is the 2011 recipient of its Pioneer award. He formally served as an independent trustee of the Pacer ETF Trust. He is currently chair of the Gateway for Leadership foundation and a board member of CommonLit an educational not for profit. He is Chair Emeritus of Teach for America, Greater Philadelphia and former Chair and Trustee of Mt. St. Mary's University.

Michael Hullings

Michael joined Spouting Rock in 2016 on our compliance team and soon after assumed the role of Chief Compliance Officer. He is responsible for managing regulatory compliance and operations across all facets of Spouting Rock Asset Management. He serves as a liaison to regulators and third-party financial institutions and develops and maintains the firm’s policies and procedures. In addition to his SRAM responsibilities, he is responsible for the analysis and due diligence for all private equity transactional information for Spouting Rock Capital Advisors, the merchant banking division of Spouting Rock.

Michael graduated from Villanova University with a BBA in Business Administration, Marketing, and Business Law. He received his Juris Doctor from the Widener University School of Law with a focus in Corporate Bankruptcy and holds FINRA Series 63 and Series 82 licenses. Michael enjoys golf, Scrabble, and spending time with his family.

Pamela Jacobs

Pamela Fennell Jacobs Chief Sustainability Officer

Ms. Jacobs has joined Spouting Rock Asset Management as Chief Sustainability Officer, with a focus on evolving the firm’s sustainability strategy. Spouting Rock is a boutique financial services firm in Bryn Mawr, PA, offering asset management, merchant banking and family office services.

Pamela has extensive domestic and international experience in the wealth management industry.  Her tenure has been marked by successful business-building across the wealth spectrum. Over the past three decades, Pamela has served in leadership roles at Envestnet, SEI and Fidelity.

Prior to engaging with Spouting Rock, Ms. Jacobs served as Executive Managing Director, Impact Investing at Envestnet, and is recognized for driving revenue growth and innovation in the areas of impact investing, digital engagement, and wealth transfer.

Previously, she founded PFJ Consulting LLC in 2001, with a focus on creating and implementing solutions that addressed the evolving needs of wealth management providers.  Some of her clients included Envestnet, Lazard, Fortigent, Pitcairn, and SEI.

Ms. Jacobs holds a BS in Marketing from the University of Maryland and serves on the Board of Eluna (formerly the Moyer Foundation). Pamela founded Connected Women in 2003; a networking group for senior women in investment management.

James Gowen, CFA

James Gowen, CFAChief Investment Officer − Small Cap Equities

James joined SRAM in 2017 after 30 years in the industry. He is responsible for our Small Cap Equities strategy.

Prior to joining SRAM, James was with Kalmar Investments as a Portfolio Manager and Analyst and rose to become Co-leader of the investment team. Kalmar managed $6 Billion in equity AUM and included advisory relationships such as Vanguard. Kalmar ceased investment activities as of
June 30, 2017.

James began his investment career at Inverness Counsel, Inc. in New York, ultimately rising to Vice President. Following Research and Portfolio Management roles at Gardner Lewis Asset Management and E.R. Taylor Investments he joined Friess Associates in 2001. During the 12 years he was there he rose to become a Team Leader and Principal and at its peak they managed $18 Billion in AUM
in equities.

He graduated from Macalester College with a BA in International Studies and is a member of the CFA Society of Philadelphia. James enjoys woodworking, racquet sports and outdoor activities including fly fishing, especially with his family.

Rhys Williams, CFA

Rhys Williams, CFA Chief Investment Officer – Victor Equity Fund

Rhys joined SRAM in 2019 and is CIO for our Long/Short Strategy, The Victor Equity Fund.

Prior to joining SRAM, Rhys was a principal of Columbia Partners and served as a Senior Equity Portfolio Manager.  He was acting CIO, a member of the equity management team and the team leader on the small cap portfolios. He also managed the firm’s single strategy hedge fund endeavor. Rhys served on the Management Committee of Columbia Partners. Rhys served as a Senior Vice President at Prudential Securities prior to joining Columbia Partners where, among his responsibilities, he successfully managed small and mid-capitalization stock portfolios.  Before joining Prudential, Rhys worked as a journalist in the Moscow office of the “London Sunday Times”. Rhys earned a BA from Duke University (magna cum laude) and an MA in International Economics from Johns Hopkins University.  He holds a CFA designation.

Patrick joined SRAM in August 2015 and has 12 years of experience in the industry. He is responsible for managing our Manager Select platform – liquid alternative solutions as well as our hedge fund partnership and consulting businesses.

Prior to joining SRAM, Patrick was an Associate Director for Zurich Alternative Asset Management, LLC, an Alternatives Investment Group for Zurich Insurance Group. He conducted investment/manager research and due diligence as a member of the groups’ hedge fund team responsible for a $2 Billion investment portfolio.

Patrick began his finance career as an Associate at UBS Investment Bank where he spent three years in the Mortgage Finance and Trading Group. He graduated from Union College with BA in Economics, is a member of the CAIA Association as a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst and holds FINRA Series 65 license. Patrick also enjoys travel with his family, music, and backyard gaming.

John Dodd

John joined SRAM in 2018, after nearly 30 years in the industry. He is responsible for the institutional sales, marketing, and distribution efforts of SRAM.

Prior to joining SRAM, John served over 7 years as the Head of Institutional Marketing for Levin Capital Strategies, LP, where he led the sales and marketing efforts in the U.S. and globally, in equity and alternative investments strategies. Previously, he served in similar roles including Managing Director- New Business Development/Institutional Sales at SGI Investors  (Guggenheim Partners), and Managing Director- Head of Institutional Sales for US Trust AM.  John was also Head of Sales for Friess Associates, a boutique equity firm that specializes in growth equity strategies.

John began his finance career in Institutional Sales, at Goldman Sachs in NYC. He graduated from Dartmouth College with a BA in English and received an MBA from the Columbia Business School with a focus on Finance and holds FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses.

Amy Coyne

Amy CoyneDirector of Marketing and Communications

Amy Coyne joined Spouting Rock in 2018 as the Director of Marketing and Communications. Prior to joining Spouting Rock she helped launch a new venture, Crystal View Partners with her father John Coyne. Before reentering the financial industry Amy worked in business development for Lilly Pulitzer and Carlisle, LLC, where she focused on sales growth and developing the brand distribution strategy. Amy started her Finance career at Brinker Capital in the marketing department and then helped develop their Wealth Advisory group. Amy graduated from Fairfield University with a BA in Communications. Amy enjoys golfing, skiing and spending time with family and friends.

David Ruffini

David Ruffini Jr. Trader and Analyst

David joined Spouting Rock in February 2019 as a Jr. Trader & Analyst. 

Prior to joining Spouting Rock, David was an Advanced Brokerage Specialist at Vanguard as a member of the Retail Investor Group’s Equity Order Desk. He was responsible for placing equity, ETF, and non-Vanguard mutual fund trades for retail investors. Additionally, David had gained undergraduate experience in finance while working at Wind Point Partners, a middle market private equity firm located in Chicago, IL, where he served as an intern for three months.

David graduated from The University of Richmond with a B.B.A in Finance and Minor in Latin American, Latino & Iberian Studies. He was also a member of the University’s inaugural Division I lacrosse team. He holds FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses and is pursuing his CFA. In his spare time, David enjoys watching Philadelphia sports teams, golfing, and traveling with family and friends.
